Reflexology helps you recover after surgery
Almost all of us have had surgery and went through a prolonged period of recovery. This is because the combination of surgery and painkillers cause a trauma for the body and the mind. Since Reflexology helps to release pain and trauma, it is an efficient way to help with the healing process
Working with Clients, I pay extra attention to the areas where surgery occurred. My hands and your feedback help identify where areas of pain are located and how this should be treated. I massage gently the area concerned to release the pain and slowly extend this to the whole body. My objective is to bring balance to your entire body. Often, surgery leaves a trauma along emotional reflexes. I concentrate on reflexes of pituitary and adrenals to release this trauma and help calm your mind and stabilize your emotions. I also pay attention to the reflexes of your nervous system to help you relax. Before and after surgery you will absorb a large amount of medication including strong pain killers, this can provoke constipation or upset the stomach. Reflexology will help to ease the discomfort on the digestive system. One of my recent clients had a cheek bone broken by accident. After two weeks, he could still not feel sensation on the surface of his cheek. The cheek was still swollen and my client could feel pain inside the cheek. After 3 sessions he started feeling some tingling on the cheek while swelling and bruises went down. In addition, he could relax and started sleeping much better. After 6 sessions he felt a lot more comfortable and almost pain free. Reflexology brought him a sense of comfort and restored his sensations of well being quickly. Clearly there are benefits from having Reflexology treatments after surgery, Reflexology can help you to restore the balance you had pre-op and get you to relax. |

Reflexology can help fight against depression
I have found that reflexology is very helpful for depression sufferer as it works emotionally and mentally as well as physically.
Reflexology helps clients to deal with the symptoms of depression such as insomnia/ disturbed sleep, anxiety, low vitality and fatigue etc. To alleviate depression, I concentrate on reflexes of endocrine system including all the hormonal gland which is related to emotional stability and mental health. I work specially on the reflex of pituitary gland ( the spot in the middle of big toe or thumb) and the reflexes for solar plexus and diaphram helps clients to bring into deep relaxation and to breathe deeply. Gentle pressure to the adrenal reflex point is also very helpful for body’s response to stress. I also focus on the reflexes of brain and spine (central nervous system ) to calm the whole body system and to release the emotional or physical tension. Most of the time I combine reiki with reflexology to maximize healing process for depression. I usually find my clients go into deep relaxation during the treatment. After treatment, they sleep much better and feel more positive, happier and calmer as reflexology helps emotional stress release as well as physical. |

Reflexology can help Sciatica pain
Sciatica is caused by compression of the sciatic nerve causing pain in the lower back, buttocks, back of legs and knees.
To help sciatica pain, I pay attention to the most painful area around the ankle and heel bone which is related to the sciatica nerve. I also concentrate on the reflexes of the lower back (lumber and sacrum), hips, legs and knees as well as the sciatic nerve with slow and deep thumb pressure and gentle massage. Clients suffering from sciatica pain also tend to have tight shoulders muscles and pain along the spine; again here I apply pressure and gentle massage. Finally, I link lumbar and hip by holding these reflexes together for few minutes to ease the pain. I often combine reflexology with holistic massage and Reiki. The combined therapies help to reduce the pain of sciatica by reducing tension in muscles and improving circulation to the joint. Clients may feel discomfort during the treatment as the body is adjusting itself but always feel less pain after the treatment. Reflexology is very effective at shifting the pain associated with sciatica. However if clients have had a long term sciatic problem, regular reflexology treatments are necessary to improve and prevent the condition. |

Reflexology can help your back pain
Everyone can experience back pain at times, which could be the result of poor posture, any kind of injuries/accident, lack of exercise or stress etc.
I have found that one of the most common complaints from clients is back pain/problems especially in their lower back region.
I focus on the area of pain on the spine using gentle stroke, rotation, thumb or knuckle pressure to minimize pain. I also work on reflex points of the spine as well as hips, shoulders and neck areas as they are all linked.
I combine reflexology with holistic massage if necessary, which also helps my clients to release the tension and pain and relax the whole body. As reflexology works on the nervous system, it can really help reduce back pain and also relax the tight muscles around the back, neck and shoulder areas. After treatment, my clients often feel less pain, less stiff or more flexible, and they do feel taller as if their whole body had stretched! Reflexology is not a quick fix but many clients, who have been suffering from chronic back problems, have found a huge improvement in their conditions after regular treatments. |

Reflexology can help digestive problems
After Christmas lots of people complain that they feel bloated, sluggish and discomfort in their digestive system.
To solve digestive problems, I concentrate on the reflexes of the digestive system including stomach, liver, gall bladder, small intestine and large intestine. I usually pick up tightness or congestion on the small or large intestine, which is related to digestion and elimination of food. I work on those areas with stronger pressure to relieve discomfort and to help the bowel movement. For short term discomfort in digestive system, one or two sessions will help clients to release pain. For clients with long term digestive problems such as Constipation, IBS or Colitis, regular reflexology treatments will help tremendously. One of my clients had been suffering from Irritable bowl disease for many years and she had taken medication for it for long time. On the first session I found her sole of the feet was so hard that I couldn’t even press on it. After a few sessions she felt a bit easer and less pain on her bowel movement. She had a treatment once a week for two months and she reduced the medication as she could feel the improvement. After having regular treatments for six months she didn’t need the medication and her sole of the feet was getting softer and softer. Reflexology helps any digestive disorders enormously and supports whole digestive system for everyone. |

Suffering from cold this winter?
You could try reflexology to clear your cold.
Clients come for a treatment when they feel run down, lack of energy and tired with symptoms of cold such as coughing, sneezing, sore throat and runny nose etc. To help them to clear their cold I focus on the reflexes of respiratory system which are mainly nose, sinuses, throat and lungs. I do use firm pressure on wherever I found congested to ease the tightness and release the tension on those areas. Also i treat all other parts of the body to get the balance and to help the body to heal itself. It depends on the client but after one session they usually feel much better and much clearer. If you have regular treatments it will help you back up your immune system all throughout the year. Some related links:
